About PIXAMP
PIXAMP was founded to solve the single biggest pain point in Sri Lanka’s vehicle import industry — the lack of clear, trustworthy, and consolidated cost information. Beyond providing transparency, our purpose is to bridge the gap between cost calculation and financing options, empowering importers and buyers to make informed, confident decisions.
Our Mission: To empower every Sri Lankan dreaming of owning a vehicle with transparent import cost insights and smarter finance solutions.
Sri Lanka’s vehicle import tax structure constantly evolves — with shifting surcharges, duties, and thresholds that make accurate cost calculation a challenge. PIXAMP keeps you up to date, ensuring your decisions are always based on the latest rules and real numbers.
We combine accuracy with simplicity. Using the latest government Gazette data, our calculator gives you a complete, real-time cost breakdown — and our intuitive design ensures you enjoy the best user experience every step of the way.
What Makes PIXAMP Different?
- Transparency: We break down every levy, including the complex VAT base calculation.
- Full Costing: We go beyond basic estimates — calculating taxes, bank charges, and commissions to give you the truest picture of your total import cost.
- Finance Integration: We connect your final import cost directly to an estimated monthly finance payment, simplifying your next steps.
- Accessibility: Our tool is free to use and available in English, Sinhala, and Tamil.
We believe that knowledge and financial clarity should be the foundation of every major purchase. Use PIXAMP to Calculate. Connect. Finance. your next vehicle.
How We Keep the Numbers Accurate
Every rate in the calculator comes from a published source: the Extraordinary Gazette notifications issued under the Customs Ordinance, the Excise (Special Provisions) Act and the Finance Act, and the Sri Lanka Customs National Imports Tariff Guide. Each rate is stored with the gazette number it comes from and the date it takes effect, so a calculation always uses the rates in force on the day it is made.
We regularly cross-check the calculator's results against real Customs declarations (CUSDEC) and Customs assessment notices, line by line, from Customs Import Duty to VAT, SSCL and Customs fees, so that our estimates stay as close as possible to what Customs actually charges. Thousands of automated test cases also check every engine-capacity and motor-power bracket, and the calculator cannot be updated if any of these checks fail.
When the government publishes a new gazette, we add it as a new dated rate set rather than overwriting the old one, and we review our guides and blog posts that quote the affected figures. Our blog articles cite the gazettes they rely on, so you can check the source yourself.
What the Calculator Cannot Know
The result is an estimate for planning. Customs decides the final CIF value (for used vehicles it is usually based on the brand-new price, not your invoice), the exchange rate on the day of assessment and the vehicle's HS code. Bank charges, clearing fees and commissions also vary. Always confirm the final amount with Sri Lanka Customs or a licensed clearing agent before you open a Letter of Credit.
